Bismillah ar-rahman ar-rahim
Anas bin Malik رضي الله عنه narrated that when the enemy got the upper hand on the day of the Battle of Uhud, the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم was left with only seven men from the Ansar (supporters) and two men from Quraish emigrants of the Prophet's tribe.
When the enemy advanced towards him and overwhelmed him, he said : "Who would turn them away from us and will go to Jannah (or : will be my Companions in Jannah?)?"
A man from the Ansar came forward and fought (the enemy) until he was killed.
The enemy advanced and overwhelmed him again, and he repeated the words : "Who will turn them away from us and will go to Jannah (or : will be my companion in Jannah)?"
Another man from the Ansar came forward and fought until he was killed.
This state of affair continued until the seven Ansar were killed (one after the other).
Then the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said to his two Companions : "We have not done justice to our Companions." (Muslim : 1789)
